Maternal mental health is crucial for raising healthy kids and for taking good care of yourself. If you’re a mama, or know an expectant mama, this episode is for you. Danielle Jenkins is my special guest and shares about how to ensure your family thrives in postpartum.
Dr. Danielle Jenkins is a psychologist and maternal mental health expert and has been working with families for over 20 years, first as a nanny, then as preschool teacher in parent-child interactive preschools, and then as a postpartum doula before finally pursuing a degree in psychology. She took those experiences helping mothers, babies, children, and families went to George Fox University in Oregon where she received her doctorate and then completed an internship at Cherokee Health Systems in Knoxville, TN. While there, She completed rotations in pediatrics, primary care, and women’s health. She now has a private practice where she enjoys seeing women to help problem solve the frustrations of new parenting and help women and their partners overcome the pain of infertility, birth trauma, pregnancy and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders. One of her favorite things is helping women who feel they have lost themselves during the postpartum period recover and thrive.
